This week I would like to highlight our last 2009/210 Award recipient, Mrs. Michelle Miller.
Each year teachers, staff and parents of St. Joseph School have the opportunity to nominate one of St. Joe’s teachers to receive the Diocesan “Light of Learning” award. Our recipient this year is Michelle Miller. Mrs. Miller is currently in her 8th year at St. Joe. She taught 3rd grade for 2 years and is currently teaching 2nd grade.
Michelle stated that she likes teaching at St. Joe because she is able to talk about God in the classroom and likes going to Mass with the students. She is also thankful to be able to teach her students about God as well as all the other subjects.
Some of the comments from her fellow staff members were:
- She implements new technology and best practices them in classroom instruction, expecting and receiving the best from her students.
- She strives to help each student to be his/her best and always keeps that at the forefront of her teaching.
- She is caring, professional, and Christ-like, and a fantastic example to both students and staff at St. Joe.
- She is very organized, a well informed teacher who tries to meet the needs of all her students.
- She does research to meet these needs and is technology smart. She can always answer our questions or if she can’t, she looks things up and lets us know later.
Michelle and her husband, Joe, who is also a teacher at St. Joe, are the parents of three boys – Patrick, Ben and James.
